Version Control in Cabinet SAFE

Issue: 

Does Cabinet SAFE offer document versioning and version control?

 

Solution:

Yes. SAFE allows for maintaining mutliple versions of a document. Versioning can be enabled in two ways: 

Cabinet Level Versioning - All documents in a cabinet are eligible for versioning.

Document Template versioning - Only documents that are filed using the naming template are eligle for versioning.

 

Use the following steps to enable Cabinet Level Versioning.

1. Login to Cabinet Management as a cabinet administrator.

2. Select "Cabinets" from the "Filing Structure" Menu.

3. From the "Cabinet" list, select the cabinet that you wish to edit.

4. Double-click the cabinet name, or click "Edit" at the bottom of the window. The cabinet "Details" window will open.

5. Under the "Details" menu, click the "Document Versioning" checkbox.

6. Click "Finish" at the bottom of the window to save your changes and to return to the "Cabinet" list.

 

Use the following steps to enable Document Template Versioning.

1. Login to Cabinet Management as a cabinet administrator.

2. Select "Templates" from the "Document Settings" Menu.

3. From the "Templates" list, select the template that you wish to edit.

4. Double-click the template name, or click Edit at the bottom of the window. The template "Details" window will open.

5. Click the "Enable Versioning" checkbox belw the "Retention" setting.

6. Click "Finish" at the bottom of the window to save your changes and to return to the "Templates" list.
